Bristol 0 Gauge Group [BOGG] 2017
Sunday 22nd January 2017 saw the annual Model Railway Exhibition in 0 Gauge staged at the University of the West of England [UWE], by the Bristol 0 Gauge Group, assisted by Members of West Wilts 0 Gauge Group, with the assistance of friends
& family members.
Weather was not the most enticing for travel, with gusty winds & rain, but some visitors who travelled from north of
Birmingham said they had left home with snow on the ground.
Our door raffle locomotive was won by Mr D. Newman, from West Drayton, who had the choice
of the two Ready To Run locomotives, a Ixion Fowler diesel in GWR lined livery or the new Minerva Kerr Stuart Victory 0-6-0T, Mr Newman chose the Minerva Kerr Stuart loco.
The single advance ticket draw for a single 2017 show wagon, was won by Mr E. Trendell, from Kings Lyn, Norfolk.
‘Carbon Footprint’ 4 in a car ticket, won by 4 members of the Cornwall 0 Gauge Group who arrived in mass in a mini bus full of 17, they chose one 2015, one 2016, & two 2017 show wagons.
If you missed purchasing a 'Show' special 7 plank open wagon produced for us by Dapol, they can be obtained from Bob Taylor, contact details on the contact us page.
The numbers through the door were up on 2016, a total of 1440 arrived, it felt that they all arrived at the same time between 8.45 & 10.30 am, we had sold 134 advance tickets,
several visitors still thought that these were for Gauge 0 Guild members only, NO they are for any modeller who would like to come in early and use the loo’s and have
a hot drink & a bacon sandwich, after a long journey, the remainder were approximately a 2/3 - 1/3 split between Gauge 0 Guild members & non Guild.
As a show we do not charge for family members [wives/partners/children] of which we had over 170.
On top of this there were also about 250
traders / stewards / & layout operators, so a lot of bodies creating ‘heat’ which the air con had trouble controlling.
all 88 traders who attended, 15 were new to Bristol this year, many have already asked for space next year, and said they did not expect such a busy day.
Feedback from the departing visitor, they thought it was better than 2016.
A big thank you to you the visitor, if you do not
visit, the traders would not be kept busy collecting money and would depart with glum faces saying the shows not worth attending. The requested date for the 2018 show is January 21st, awaiting confirmation from the venue [UWE] for availability of this date.
Keep watching the show web pages for updates on the 2018 show, trade invites will be sent out end of April/ early May, we are looking at a layout
mix, again 0 fine scale from various locations, a selection of narrow gauge either 0-16.5 or 0n30, and a possible 3 rail tinplate display by the local HMRC.
Many thanks for attending as a visitor.
